much as an American painter, but one with strong ties to his heritage.
“I still feel that when someone looks at my work, they can tell it is Japanese. I bring
my native country’s strong calligraphic tradition into my works. The shapes and separations
of space that I create on the canvas are firmly rooted in an inspiration from this tradition”.
